I receive a letter almost daily questioning if this is actually secure. The knowledge you have just read is sufficient to prevent 99%+ of parcels from falling into the hands of law authorities. However, sometimes contents can be found. Perhaps a parcel has been damaged, or a postal worker has opened a package they shouldn’t have. What do they do if they discover half an ounce of marijuana in a package? The ideal situation, and the one that is most likely to occur, is that they simply discard it (or bring it home and smoke it!). In the worst situation, they call the police.
At this stage, the police can only arrest you if they perform a “controlled delivery”. When a police officer brings a package to your door and instructs you to sign for it, you run the risk of getting into trouble (you are NEVER asked to sign for a package). You cannot be arrested just for placing a package in your mailbox. Otherwise, anyone might send drugs to someone else and pay a penny to get them into trouble. Therefore, if you’re anxious, just keep in mind that you should never sign for a parcel.
